Reader-built field atlas

Family Photo Relation Atlas

A family photograph stores an arrangement, not one final memory. Two consented readings can reveal how alignment, gaze, clothing and spacing construct belonging around what the image withholds.

The evidence pair

Two photographs that can be compared

Frame 1

The complete consented photograph with identifying details removed when needed

Frame 2

A second annotated copy or later photograph showing the alternate center, relation or remembered context

What the note must add

State who owns the image, its approximate date and your relationship to it. Do not diagnose expressions, expose family conflict, infer politics from clothing or publish minors and vulnerable people without valid consent.

Submissions remain private until East Moment reviews the rights, specificity and usefulness of the record.

Editorial founding evidence

A visible baseline, with the gaps left open

These are East Moment editorial records built from authorized or rights-cleared imagery. They are not reader submissions and do not count toward the public record total.

One historical family order and two reading tools

Method baseline without a second family reading

A public-domain 1950 family photograph makes frontal alignment and formal clothing inspectable; two original diagrams separate portrait order from line, patch, scale and relation.

Li Qun and family posed in a formal 1950 portrait
Visible: frontal pose, formal clothing and alignment. Missing: the family's own account of the moment.
Diagram labeling backdrop, alignment, clothing and frontal gaze
Method: inspect the ordering devices before assigning emotion.
Diagram separating relation line, color patch, scale and spacing
Method: keep four visual questions separate rather than using one symbolic code.

Still missing: The historical sitters provide no recorded interpretation here, the image is not Zhang Xiaogang's source photograph and no second family member has identified a different center or memory.

Approved reader records

The Atlas in public

The first two-reader family photograph is still waiting.

Approved records will preserve consent, image order and disagreement. An anonymous portrait uploaded for strangers to diagnose cannot enter the Atlas.
