Writing begins persuading before it is read. A useful test preserves the first visual judgment, the later reading and the exact clue that made authority grow or collapse.
The complete object in its real setting before translation or explanation
Frame 2
A readable detail, translation or second reader's annotated view that changes the first judgment
What the note must add
Name the language, location, date and your ability to read it. Preserve genuine uncertainty, remove private data and do not ridicule unfamiliar writing or treat invented display text as evidence about a real language.
Submissions remain private until East Moment reviews the rights, specificity and usefulness of the record.
Editorial founding evidence
A visible baseline, with the gaps left open
These are East Moment editorial records built from authorized or rights-cleared imagery. They are not reader submissions and do not count toward the public record total.
False-character authority and relearned English
Two-system editorial baseline
A real Xu Bing installation view makes printed authority architectural, while a licensed Square Word example shows familiar Latin letters becoming readable only after their packing rule is noticed.
Visible: print, repetition and institutional scale. Missing: one reader's first judgment and failed reading.
Visible: familiar letters inside an unfamiliar order. Missing: a timed reading or second-reader comparison.
Still missing: The images are not one reader's before-and-after test. They do not record reading time, language ability, a verified translation or how a second person judged the same object.
Approved reader records
The Atlas in public
The first before-and-after reading is still open.
Approved records will keep first impression and verified reading together. An isolated funny sign, unsourced translation or decorative type sample cannot complete the Atlas.
