Reader-built field atlas

Body Rhythm and Historical Source Atlas

A historical image can preserve posture, costume and relation, while a modern dancer must invent timing and transition. Keeping both records visible makes reconstruction honest and discussable.

The evidence pair

Two photographs that can be compared

Frame 1

A short contemporary phrase or still sequence with the movement pathway and rights clear

Frame 2

The complete historical object or image with museum, date, place and catalog context retained

What the note must add

Name dancer, work, choreographer or school when confirmed, and cite the historical source. Do not turn resemblance into direct lineage or claim that a still object preserves music, tempo, transitions and complete choreography.

Submissions remain private until East Moment reviews the rights, specificity and usefulness of the record.

Editorial founding evidence

A visible baseline, with the gaps left open

These are East Moment editorial records built from authorized or rights-cleared imagery. They are not reader submissions and do not count toward the public record total.

A modern sleeve line beside Western Han dancer figures

Unmatched source-boundary baseline

An open-license White Sleeve Dance photograph records fabric extending a contemporary stage pathway, while public-domain Western Han figures preserve long sleeves and represented dancing bodies as material evidence.

White Sleeve Dance performer sending long fabric through looping paths
Visible: a contemporary body and fabric pathway. Missing: its complete phrase and source argument.
Two Western Han earthenware dancer figures with long sleeves
Visible: historical objects, posture and sleeves. Missing: time, music and movement between poses.

Still missing: The objects and performance are separated by context and time. They do not establish direct lineage, an intact Han choreography, shared music, identical technique or the transitions that connect either visible posture.

The Atlas in public

No phrase-and-source comparison has cleared review yet.

The first approved record will keep present movement and historical evidence distinct but connected. A costume resemblance or unsourced ancient image cannot complete the Atlas.
