A polished front can suggest a name. The reverse, working ends, attachment and lived use determine whether that name and its claimed meaning can survive inspection.
The complete front and its attachment, not an isolated decorative crop
Frame 2
The reverse with crossings, working ends and fastening method visible
What the note must add
Name the cord material, object, maker or giver when known and the actual use. Separate a visible construction from a marketplace title, and do not infer a wedding, Buddhist meaning or ancient date from red color alone.
Submissions remain private until East Moment reviews the rights, specificity and usefulness of the record.
Editorial founding evidence
A visible baseline, with the gaps left open
These are East Moment editorial records built from authorized or rights-cleared imagery. They are not reader submissions and do not count toward the public record total.
Two useful fronts before the missing reverse
Unmatched editorial object baseline
A Qing hanging ornament preserves loop, compact knot body, beads and tassels, while a modern butterfly-shaped knot exposes broad crossings and one working end clearly enough for comparison.
Visible: one complete historical hanging arrangement. Missing: reverse path and maker intention.
Visible: a modern front with an exposed working end. This is not the reverse of the Qing ornament.
Still missing: These are different objects and neither record supplies a matched reverse view, maker account or lived occasion. They cannot prove one shared construction or universal meaning.

The Atlas in public
No front-and-back knot record has cleared review yet.
The first approved record will keep structure and social use together. One attractive face or one symbolic adjective cannot complete the Atlas.
