Quanzhou's red roofs do not need to win a beauty contest. Their power comes from surviving inside a working city. Curved Minnan rooflines overlap with air conditioners, apartments, hotels and newer blocks; no clean historical boundary protects the view. That mess is the evidence. Quanzhou is not a museum of maritime history but a place where inherited building language still negotiates with rent, comfort and development. Look across the roofs before entering another temple.
